If your iPhone’s Power button breaks, it can become a frustrating experience trying to lock your iPhone’s screen. Locking your screen is an essential operation for the continued use of your iPhone, and you may worry that you need to replace the phone. Thankfully, there is an alternative, software-based method to lock your phone. To lock your phone while your Power button is broken, first enable AssistiveTouch and then lock your iPhone with its help. Here’s how to do that:
Lock iPhone screen without using power button
Enable Assistive Touch on your iPhone. Assistive touch has a button that emulates the Power button. For later iPhone models, Assistive touch is already activated. If your iPhone’s Assistive Touch feature is disabled, you can Enabling AssistiveTouch.
Step 1: Go to “Settings“.
Step 2: Click “General“. Find the General item from the Settings menu.
Step 3: Scroll down and click on “Accessibility“.
Step 4: Turn “AssistiveTouch” “ON“. Tap on the option to toggle it to ON.
Step 5: Click on the hovering button for Assistive Touch.
Step 6: Click on the iPhone icon titled “Device”.
Step 7: CLick on “Lock Screen” Your phone would immediately turn black and lock itself.
Note: You can use the Home button to wake the phone up manually.
You can also turn off your iPhone device by Hold the Lock screen icon for a few seconds until the slider to turn it off shows. Then swipe the slider to the right to turn “OFF” your phone.
Now that your iPhone is sleep mode, just tap the home button to wake it up. If you turned off your iPhone using the power-off slider button, you will need to plug in the device using your charging cable in order to power it back on.
